Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said he looked forward to visiting Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of development projects spanning railways, healthcare, education, connectivity and culture, asserting that the initiatives would significantly improve the lives of people, particularly the country’s youth.

In a series of posts on social media platform X ahead of his day-long visit on Friday, the Prime Minister outlined the key projects to be launched across the three regions, including the flagging off of India’s first hydrogen-powered train, the dedication of redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the inauguration of major healthcare facilities and the foundation stone laying for a Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra.
“I look forward to being among the people of Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab to participate in various programmes linked to railways, healthcare, culture, connectivity, education and more. These works will have a very positive impact on the lives of people, especially our Yuva Shakti,” Modi said.

Highlighting the significance of the railway initiatives, the Prime Minister said India would enter an exclusive group of nations with hydrogen-powered train technology.
“From Jind tomorrow, India’s first hydrogen-powered train will be flagged off, which will connect Jind and Sonipat. India becomes one of the select group of nations that have such trains. This will go a long way in ensuring that India adopts clean technology in the railway sector,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that several other infrastructure projects would also be launched in Jind.
“Other works will also be inaugurated in Jind tomorrow. These include road and railway projects which will improve connectivity between Delhi and Amritsar, Ambala and Kala Amb, Jind and Gohana and more. Medical colleges in Bhiwani and Narnaul would also be dedicated to the nation,” Modi said.

He also announced that the foundation stone for a Sikh Museum would be laid in Kurukshetra.
“The foundation stone for a Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra will be laid. This museum will showcase the glorious history of Sikhism, the noble teachings of the respected Sikh Gurus and the contribution of the Sikh community to our nation,” the Prime Minister said.
Speaking about the Chandigarh leg of his visit, Modi said development projects worth more than Rs 4,700 crore would either be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid.
“It is always wonderful to be in Chandigarh. During tomorrow’s programme, development works worth over Rs. 4700 crore would either be inaugurated or their foundation stones would be laid. Notable works include the inauguration of the Advanced Mother and Child Centre and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. The road projects will improve connectivity between Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of his programme in Punjab’s Jalandhar, where projects worth more than Rs 5,400 crore are scheduled to be launched.
“In Jalandhar tomorrow, works worth over Rs. 5400 crore will be inaugurated or their foundation stones would be laid. Tomorrow’s programme is important for India’s railway infrastructure because 75 redeveloped railway stations from all over India will be dedicated to the nation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations will ensure an improved passenger experience. At the same time, they reflect the spirit of ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi,'” Modi said.

He further noted that additional railway projects would enhance connectivity to important religious destinations.

“The other railway projects will improve connectivity to Sri Anandpur Sahib and the Maa Chintpurni Temple. At the same time, the train service between Amritsar and Varanasi will connect two vibrant religious and cultural centres of India,” he added.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi’s visit will cover Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab, where he will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs 26,800 crore. The initiatives encompass railway infrastructure, highways, healthcare, higher education, clean energy and cultural heritage, reflecting the government’s focus on improving connectivity, expanding public services and promoting sustainable development.

The launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train marks a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to modernise its railway network through cleaner technologies, while the redevelopment of railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme forms part of a broader programme to upgrade passenger amenities and integrate modern infrastructure with local architectural heritage. The visit also underscores the government’s emphasis on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, improving regional connectivity and preserving India’s cultural and religious legacy through new public institutions and infrastructure projects.
