Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday attended the second day of the fourth edition of SEMICON India 2025, a premier event focused on advancing India’s semiconductor ecosystem. The conference, held at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, brought together global leaders, innovators, academia, policymakers, and industry experts to shape the future of semiconductors in India.
“The world trusts India. The world believes in India. The world is ready to build the semiconductor future with India,” PM Modi had Tuesday emphasised, highlighting the growing confidence in India’s tech potential.

“In the world of semiconductors, it is often said, ‘Oil was black gold, but chips are digital diamonds’,” PM Modi noted, underscoring the significance of semiconductors in driving global progress.
The SEMICON India 2025 conference aims to catalyse India’s semiconductor growth, with a focus on design, manufacturing, artificial intelligence, investment opportunities, and global collaboration. The event features sessions on the progress of the Semicon India Programme, semiconductor fab and advanced packaging projects, infrastructure readiness, smart manufacturing, and innovations in research and development.
Ten semiconductor projects are currently underway in India, involving an investment of over USD 18 billion (more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore).
Over 20,750 attendees are expected, including more than 2,500 delegates from 48 countries, over 150 speakers, and more than 350 exhibitors.
PM Modi emphasised that India is now moving beyond the backend to become a full-stack semiconductor nation, to make India’s smallest chip drive the biggest change in the world.
The global semiconductor market has already reached USD 600 billion and is expected to surpass USD 1 trillion in the coming years. PM Modi expressed confidence that India will hold a significant share in this market, driven by its growing expertise in semiconductor design and manufacturing.
