Interacting with students, parents and teachers in his second “Pariksha Pe Charcha” on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “parents who try to impose their unfulfilled wishes on their children are a failure”.

The Prime Minister also asked the parents to try to recognise the potential in their children.

“As far as expectations are concerned, we also feel like working hard when there are expectations,” he said.

Talking to the students at the main venue of the Talkatora Stadium, PM Modi explained how stress could be relieved ahead of the Board exams.

“Board exam is just like any other exam. The board exam is not the exam for life. It does not stop our lives. But exams are important for us,” PM Modi told the students at Pariksha Pe Charcha 2.0.

He said that exams should be viewed as an opportunity. “If you consider it an opportunity you will get stronger. God has given you a lot of strength. Exam gives us an opportunity to test that. But we should not run after exams. We should acquire knowledge and marks will follow,” he said.

The PM further advised parents to sit with their children, give them some work and ask them to discover something new through technology and teach them the right use of technology.

“Technology can be instrumental in connecting parents and children, parents should slowly teach children to use technology in the right manner, then children will leave PlayStation for a playground. Technology must be used to increase our capabilities,” the PM said.

PM Modi also urged the students to aim high and try to reach their goal.

“If you miss aim it can be forgiven, but if the aim is low it is not forgivable,” he said.

Talking about time management, PM Modi said, “Analyse how you spent the time daily for one week. How you used it? You will know how to manage time. Everyone has 24 hours for a day. Learning about managing time does not need an MBA”.

The PM also advised the students to have a clarity of thought and conviction.

Around 2,000 students from high school to college, along with their parents and teachers are attending the event. Students from all over India as well as Indian students residing abroad, including in Russia, Nigeria, Iran, Nepal, Doha, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Singapore, are participating.

Last year, only students of Delhi-NCR participated in the event.
