Ram’s mother, Samla Devi, told media persons that her son is a simple man. “My son is innocent; the government should release him,” she added.
She further said, “Ram is the sole support for the family. His elder brother is ill, and two younger brothers have an intellectual disability.”
“Neither Ram nor his family has any prior criminal record. The Delhi Police is investigating the case,” Bhadohi Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik said.
The officer added that the police are investigating the matter along with the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU).
Earlier on Friday morning, Ram Kumar Bind tried to scale a wall of the Parliament. However, he was caught by security personnel from the CISF and handed over to the Delhi Police, an official said.
A senior officer said that Ram Kumar Bind appears to be ‘mentally incoherent.’
Although multiple agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, are currently questioning Ram, his exact motive is yet to be ascertained.
