After ‘Papaji’, trouble for ‘godwoman’ Radhe Maa as HC orders FIR

In what may spell trouble for self-styled godwoman Sukhwinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday directed the Punjab Police to register an first information report (FIR) against her for allegedly threatening a member of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Surinder Mittal.

In his petition, Mittal, a resident of Punjab’s Phagwara, had alleged that Radhe Maa had been constantly threatening him not to speak out against her, after an audio tape had surfaced in 2016 in which the controversial Radhe Maa allegedly was heard seducing Mittal. In the audio clip, that went viral on the Internet, Radhe Maa was reportedly heard flirting, seducing and threatening Mittal, who used to be her
acquaintance.

Radhe Maa is often spotted wearing bright red dress, over the top make-up and carrying a gold trident.

In 2016, the she had courted controversy when a Mumbai woman Niki Gupta accused Radhe Maa of instigating her husband’s family to torture her mentally and physically for dowry.

In 2015, Radhe Maa was booked under obscenity and cheating charges when videos surfaced of her being carried around during satsangs. In another controversy, a Gujarat family of seven committed suicide after they spent crores of rupees on the godwoman but did not receive anything in return.

Another godman, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was recently to 20 years in jail for raping two of his female disciples, while another Godmen Rampal and  Asaram Bapu are also in jail in separate cases.
