Pan India tourism festival from Thursday to attract more tourists

In a bid to further boost the tourism industry, the Ministry of Tourism on Wednesday announced a festival spread across 30 states that will highlight and promote the unique culture, dance forms, handicrafts etc. of each state.

The ‘Paryatan Parv’ will take place between 5 to 25 October at 30 iconic sites across India, once in each state, Tourism Minister Alphons Kannanthanam said.

As part of the festival, all iconic sites like Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi, Golconda Fort in Telangana, Chilka Lake in Odisha, Hampi in Karnataka, Kohima in Nagaland among others will be illuminated.

For the tourists, cultural programmes consisting of folk dances, music, theatre, handicrafts and food will be held along with quizzes, debates and painting competitions for students.

Furthermore, exhibitions, guided heritage walks will also be organised.

For the stakeholders around the sites, sensitisation programmes will also be held.

Talking about the arrival of tourists in the country, Kannanthanam said there has been a considerable improvement in foreign tourists arrival in India and that the country is one of the safest in the world.
