The Orissa High Court has directed the State Pollution Control Board to submit a compliance report on the measures it has initiated to curb rising air pollution in Cuttack city.
A Division Bench of Justice S.K. Sahoo and Justice V. Narasingh, taking cognizance of a newspaper report, asked the regional officer of the pollution board to file a detailed report on the measures taken by it since January to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

“The Division Bench directed that an affidavit be filed by the Regional Officer of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board, detailing the specific steps taken since January 2025 against individuals/authorities/ industries for creating air pollution in Cuttack City. The affidavit should also outline the Regional Office’s monitoring activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and list any cases instituted during this period for violation of environmental norms,” the Division Bench ordered while posting the matter for further hearing on 25 September.
