The Congress working committee member said he saw no reason why he or Congress should relinquish Lord Ram to the BJP. Although the BJP would like it, he is not prepared to hand over Lord Ram to them, Tharoor said

“Not all Hindus who pray to Shri Ram are BJP members. It should be possible to spread the faith in your own unique way,” Tharoor said

Shashi Tharoor claimed that the Congress had chosen not to attend as they considered it to be a “political programme”.He said that no one in the party was opposing the Ram temple, “we were only opposed to the event.”

“It should be possible to spread the faith in your own unique way.If I go to a temple, it is to pray and not for political reasons. Someday I will go to Ayodhya, but it will be on my terms,” he said.
