New Delhi on Tuesday made it clear to the new administration in the US that there was no room for third party mediation in the resolution of issues between India and Pakistan.
‘’The government’s position for bilateral redressal of all India-Pakistan issues in an environment free of terror and violence hasn’t changed,’’ MEA spokesperson Gopal Baglay said in response to US Permanent Representative to the UN Nikki Haley’s statement that President Donald Trump himself might get involved in a peace process between the two South Asian neighbours.

The spokesperson said India expected the global community and organisations to enforce international mechanisms and mandates concerning terrorism emanating from Pakistan, which continued to be the single biggest threat to peace and stability in the region and beyond.
