Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Thursday asked people to not fall prey to the opposition’s narrative of the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise, adding that the ruling BJP is working to ensure that no genuine voter is left out.

He said the party has assigned the chief minister and both the deputy chief ministers the responsibility of 25 districts each, and that they are starting the process with Prayagraj.

Talking to the media, Maurya also hit out at TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee’s demand for an immediate end to SIR. He said, “I urge all BLOs (booth level officers) not to fall prey to Mamata Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi, or Akhilesh Yadav.”

He also urged them not to fall prey to those opposing SIR. BLOs should perform their duties honestly and responsibly. He added that suicide is not a solution to any problem. The voter list purification campaign is underway to strengthen democracy.

The Deputy CM stated that the names of deceased voters should be removed from the voter list. He added that appeasement-minded individuals have added the names of some infiltrators to the voter list.

Their names should also be removed. A voter whose name appears in multiple locations should be included in one location. Young voters should also be included in the voter list.

He added that the voter list revision is a democratic process and has been practiced in the past. The Deputy CM stated that the BJP has consistently won elections, including a historic victory in Bihar, and the opposition is panicking and making false statements. However, this will have no impact on the public.

Regarding the Congress’s decision to contest the Panchayat elections alone, Maurya stated that this is the Congress’s problem. Whether it fights alone or in alliance, the lotus will bloom.

Responding to Akhilesh Yadav’s statement that reservations could be abolished if voting rights are denied, the Deputy CM stated that Akhilesh Yadav has been fighting the elections but lost every time.

“Akhilesh Yadav has become unwell and his mental balance has deteriorated. He envisioned himself nearing power in Uttar Pradesh in 2027. However, his chances of returning to power by 2047 have vanished. Akhilesh Yadav continues to make baseless statements, ” he alleged.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that no one will be able to abolish reservations, nor will anyone be able to abolish the Constitution.

Regarding the resumption of the Kashi Tamil Sangam Yatra, inspired by PM Modi, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that all pilgrims visiting Uttar Pradesh are welcome.
