Rishi Diwakar, son of late Ram Lakhan Dhobi, a former MLA from Etawah's Lakhna assembly constituency, quit the BJP and joined the Congress on Wednesday, along with dozens of supporters.

Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Prashikshan Mahabhiyan 2026” organised by the BJP’s Bhubaneswar organisational district, Nabin said continuous training and ideological orientation are essential for building a strong and people-oriented organisation.

He said politics should not be confined to the pursuit of power but should focus on nation building, public service and strengthening public trust at the grassroots level.

Referring to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP chief said India has earned stronger global recognition and is progressing towards the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Highlighting the role of party workers, he called upon the BJP cadres to actively engage with people, understand local concerns and contribute towards social and developmental initiatives.
Nabin also spoke on issues relating to national security, inclusive development and cultural identity, stating that the government has taken several steps to strengthen internal security and accelerate development in previously neglected regions.
Speaking on the occasion, Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal described the BJP as a cadre-based nationalist party and said training programmes play a crucial role in strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.
The two-day training camp was held under the chairmanship of Bhubaneswar organisational district president Niranjan Mishra.
Among others present were Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi.
