Leader of the Rajya Sabha and BJP president, J P Nadda, Thursday strongly criticized the Opposition for staging a walkout during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s reply to the debate on Operation Sindoor.
Nadda accused the Opposition of hypocrisy, saying their demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s response was “misplaced” and exposed a “double standard”.

Nadda drew attention to parliamentary precedents, recalling the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks discussion in the Rajya Sabha.
During that time, the then Home Minister responded to the discussion, and Nadda emphasized that it’s the government’s prerogative to decide which Minister should speak and reply.
“The Opposition parties had demanded a discussion to elicit information from the government on Operation Sindoor. However, when the opportunity came, they chose to walk out without listening to the Home Minister,” Nadda said, highlighting the Opposition’s inconsistency.
Nadda made his observation in the Upper House just ahead of the House being adjourned for the second time till 2:00 PM due to continued sloganeering by Opposition members. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had also criticized the Opposition’s walkout in Rajya Sabha during the debate on Operation Sindoor.
The Opposition had Wednesday staged a walkout during Amit Shah’s speech, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the House to respond to the debate on Operation Sindoor. Shah had begun his reply, highlighting the government’s actions against terrorism and the success of Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev.
