Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Sunday announced an ex gratia compensation of Rs four lakh each to the kin of the deceased in the fire that engulfed a thinner storage warehouse in Rau near Indore on Saturday night.

Expressing grief over the incident, he said the state government stands by the affected persons and families.

On Saturday night, two women labourers were charred to death after a massive fire erupted in a thinner storage warehouse, suspected to have started from earthen lamps lit there on the occasion of Devuthni Ekadashi.

According to the police, the incident occured at a warehouse located in Rau area near Indore.

As per Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Sharma, the two deceased women were identified as Ramkali, and Jyoti, both aged around 50 years.

The officer said that fire tenders were rushed to the spot after getting information about the incident, and they brought the fire under control.

Thinner is a chemical used mostly in the plastic, and paint industries, besides other uses.
