Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma led the unity march held from the Gandhi Circle to the Amar Jawan Jyoti Memorial here in the state capital. A “Run for Unity” event was also held by the police personnel under the leadership of Director General of Police Rajiv Sharma and Commissioner of Police Jaipur Sachin Mittal to mark the day.
Public ceremonies were held at various offices and the schools for taking pledge to work for unity in the country by officials, youth and students.
In his address at the programme, CM Sharma said that Sardar Patel acted as a statesman in real sense and his firm and resolute efforts transformed many discreet smaller princely riyasats into an unified nation, India. It was indeed a herculean task of unifying into a strong nation with so many smaller principalities. The Sardar performed the task with grace and grit.
However, Sardar’s dream of uniting Jammu and Kashmir remained unfinished, that has been realised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by revocation of the article 370, CM Sharma asserted.
Similar programmes were held in all districts including Jodhpur, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Kota, Dholpur, Bharatpur and Jaisalmer.
