The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) submitted a list of bogus and duplicate voters to officials of the Maharashtra State Election Commission on Thursday, along with evidence that bogus voters have registered public toilets (Sulabh Shauchalayas) as their residential addresses in the Juinagar area of Navi Mumbai.
The MNS also wrote to Maharashtra State Election Commission officials demanding that 18,000 duplicate and 15,000 bogus names be excluded from the Belapur assembly constituency in Navi Mumbai, and tweeted a copy of the letter through the party’s X handle.

Along with public toilets, even the official bungalow of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner and the Nerul suburban railway station have been registered as residential addresses of bogus voters, the MNS wrote to the Maharashtra State Election Commission, and demanded an immediate audit of voters’ lists in Maharashtra.

MNS Navi Mumbai president and party spokesperson Gajanan Kale said, “So many such entries cannot be dismissed as mere clerical errors. This has been done deliberately. Public toilets cannot be anyone’s residence, but they appear on the voters’ list. What more proof is needed that the verification process has collapsed?”
According to Kale, the presence of 127 voter registrations at the civic chief’s official residence alone should have alerted the Maharashtra State Election Commission officials. “This is not merely a technical lapse. This points to deliberate negligence or collusion. If such bogus entries remain on voters’ lists, they will influence election outcomes,” MNS leader Kale said.
Meanwhile, the MNS and all Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) opposition parties in Maharashtra, including the Congress, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP, and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, finalised their plans to organise a joint march on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1 pm from Fashion Street near Churchgate. The march will protest discrepancies in voters’ lists. The decision was taken after a meeting of all opposition parties at the YB Chavan Centre in Nariman Point, South Mumbai, on Thursday.
MNS President Raj Thackeray was present at the meeting along with NCP founder Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, and Congress party leaders.
The opposition parties demanded after Thursday’s meeting that no elections to local civic bodies in Maharashtra must be held until bogus and duplicate voters are excluded from the voters’ list by the Maharashtra State Election Commission. After the meeting of Maharashtra opposition parties concluded, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena’s Anil Parab, Congress leader Sachin Sawant, Sharad Pawar-led NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad, MNS leader Nitin Sardesai and Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Prakash Reddy held a press conference and issued a joint statement.
“We will organise a march on November 1, so that the truth is known to the people. The march will start from Fashion Street at 1 pm and will go through Metro Cinema to the Municipal Gate. NCP founder Sharad Pawar will be present at the march. We will speak about the demands we had made to the Maharashtra State Election Commission at the November 1 march,” Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena MLA Anil Parab.
However, BJP leader Pravin Darekar ridiculed the opposition parties, saying, “The opposition is trying to do emotional politics. Their march will begin from Fashion Street, where hawkers sit. They are merely political hawkers organising a march because they are desperate for power. All thieves have come together. We (BJP) will also tell the people how the opposition parties stole the votes of the people”.
