Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin intensified the Opposition’s “vote chori” (vote theft) allegations against the Election Commission (EC) and the BJP as he joined the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, on Wednesday.
He also escalated the INDIA bloc’s criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, stating that the “deletion of 65 lakh voters’ names is murder of democracy. It is worse than terrorism.”

The DMK president, accompanied by his sister and DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, participated in the Yatra alongside Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, VIP chief Mukesh Sahani, and CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, among other national leaders of the INDIA bloc.
Addressing a large gathering in Muzaffarpur, Stalin accused the BJP of subverting democratic processes and using the Election Commission “as a remote-controlled puppet” to manipulate voter lists on a large scale.
He said: “For the past one month, the entire nation has been watching Bihar closely. I have travelled nearly 2,000 kilometres to stand in solidarity with the people of Bihar in their struggle to save democracy.”
Recalling the JP Movement, he said Bihar has once again become the epicentre of India’s democratic struggle and declared that the BJP cannot suppress the people’s power by deleting voter names or hijacking institutions.
He added: “Bihar is where the INDIA bloc was born, and Bihar is where the BJP’s arrogance will be buried. This is the spark that will ignite the next chapter of India’s democracy.”
The DMK chief asserted that the INDIA bloc would win the Bihar Assembly elections “if they are conducted freely and fairly,” and pledged to return to Bihar to attend the swearing-in ceremony after the Alliance’s victory.
He also invoked the political legacy of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, calling him a “champion of secularism and social justice” who never surrendered to the RSS. Stalin further praised Tejashwi Yadav for carrying forward that legacy.
In a message posted on ‘X’, Kanimozhi said: “Today, I joined the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, protesting the BJP’s institutional capture and the role of the ECI in independent India’s biggest vote theft. A government born out of questionable voting is not the people’s government. This is a march to defend democracy, protect the Constitution, and uphold the people’s mandate. United, we raise our voice for India’s democracy.”
