Minister reviews missile programmes at DRDO’s Hyderabad Complex

Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth reviewed the Missiles and Weapon Systems programme during his visit to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Hyderabad.

Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth reviewed the Missiles and Weapon Systems programme during his visit to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Hyderabad. The review covered projects being pursued by the Missile Cluster Labs, including the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Research Centre Imarat (RCI), and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL).

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence said that Seth visited various DRDL centres, including those for Astra Mk I & II, the Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile, and the Scramjet Engine. He was briefed on the status of these projects by Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Missiles and Strategic Systems) Raja Babu and DRDL Director G A Srinivasa Murthy.

The minister also visited various critical work centres of the RCI, where he was updated on the progress of Indigenous Navigation/Aviation Systems, Onboard Computer Division, and Imaging Infra-Red Seeker facilities. He commended DRDO scientists for playing a crucial role in building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat through the realisation of state-of-the-art weapon systems. Seth exhorted the scientific community to continue strengthening the Armed Forces to face any challenges in the current scenario, the statement read.
