Madhya Pradesh raises Laadli Behna Yojana aid to ₹1,500 per month

In major good news for women beneficiaries of the Laadli Behna Yojana in Madhya Pradesh, the state government has decided to increase the monthly financial assistance from ₹1,250 to ₹1,500, effective from this month.

The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, approved the enhanced amount at its meeting held at the State Secretariat in Bhopal on Monday.

Dr Yadav is scheduled to launch the payment of the increased amount during a function to be held in Seoni on 12 November.

The scheme was launched in March 2023 with a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000, which was raised to ₹1,250 in September 2023. With the latest revision, the Mukhyamantri Laadli Behna Yojana will now provide ₹1,500 per month to eligible women from November 2025.

With the ₹250 increase, an additional budgetary requirement of ₹1,793.75 crore has been projected for the financial year 2025–26. Consequently, the total estimated expenditure on the scheme for FY 2025–26 would amount to ₹20,450.99 crore.

In another decision, the Cabinet approved a revised estimated cost of ₹2,424.37 crore for the construction of the Acharya Shankar Museum, Advait Lok, under the Ekatma Dham Project in Omkareshwar.

A 108-foot multi-metal statue of Acharya Shankar will be installed in Omkareshwar by the Department of Culture. The project will also include construction of the Shankar Museum based on the life and philosophy of Acharya Shankar (Advait Lok), the Acharya Shankar International Vedanta Institute, and Advait Nilayam, among other facilities.

Administrative approval for ₹2,195.54 crore was granted in June 2025. The Cabinet has now approved the revised project cost of ₹2,424.37 crore.
