A look out circular (LOC) has been issued by the Tamil Nadu Police against Singapore-based businessman Lakshmana Perumal over the alleged attempt to bribe a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA to vote against the state government during a proposed Assembly move.
Perumal, who is believed to be staying in Singapore, allegedly played a major role in the conspiracy and is wanted for questioning, IANS quoted police officials as saying.

The LOC was issued to make sure that immigration authorities remain alert and inform police if Perumal attempts to enter or leave India. Investigators have claimed that Perumal made efforts to destroy crucial digital evidence related to the case.
While in Singapore, Perumal allegedly arranged for CCTV footage from a hotel to be deleted and even erased WhatsApp conversations said to be connected to the negotiations with the legislator.
Police officials said that forensic experts were examining the available digital evidence, such as electronic records and communication details, to establish the sequence of events.
Police believe Lakshmana Perumal had links with others said to be involved in the conspiracy to persuade a TVK MLA to vote against the C Joseph Vijay-led government.
Authorities are taking steps to secure his presence in the country through the appropriate legal process, while the investigation continues.
The case came to light after TVK Uthangarai MLA N. Elaiyaraja lodged a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner on June 29, claiming that he was offered ₹35 crore to vote against the Speaker during a proposed Assembly resolution. He alleged that he was threatened after rejecting the offer.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
While investigating the matter, police claimed that the prime accused, Thirunavukkarasu, had contacted Elaiyaraja at the instance of former Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji and his brother RV Ashok Kumar, according to IANS.
On Wednesday, the Madras High Court granted anticipatory bail to Senthil Balaji and Ashok Kumar, asking them to cooperate with the investigation and appear before the investigating officer whenever required.
