Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has been discharged from the hospital after undergoing a pacemaker implantation procedure. In a statement issued by the Congress party, Kharge expressed his gratitude to everyone for their good wishes.

“Honourable Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji has been discharged from the hospital this evening (Oct 2). He is doing well and would like to thank each one of you for your good wishes. He looks forward to resuming his activities shortly as advised. We thank everyone for their good wishes and support,” the party said in a statement issued today.

Kharge, 83, was admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru on October 1 for a planned pacemaker implantation procedure.

His son, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, also confirmed that the procedure was successful, and the Congress president’s condition is stable. During his hospital stay, Kharge received visits from prominent leaders, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached out to Kharge, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Kharge is expected to resume his duties soon, including addressing a public rally in Kohima, Nagaland, on October 7, themed “Safe Democracy, Safe Secularism, and Safe Nagaland.”
