The Kerala High Court on Tuesday suspended a judicial officer at the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal (MACT), Kollam, V Udayakumar, against whom allegations of sexual misconduct were raised by a few women complainants.
The court decided to suspend the officer from service in “public interest”, read the order issued by the Registrar (District Judiciary). He was previously serving as Judge of the Family Court, Chavara when allegations of sexual impropriety were raised against him by a few women complainants of the court .Following the same, he was transferred from there to the MACT, Kollam.

The high court found it necessary to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the judge under the Kerala Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1960 after finding that “grave allegations of misconduct” were raised against him through written complaints and reports of the Principal District Judge, Kollam.
The HC has earlier ordered an inquiry against the judge following allegations of sexual misconduct. A few women complainants t have accused Judge Udayakumar of sexual harassment.
