Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Saturday emphasized the importance of public involvement in the nation-building process.
During the Kerala ‘Piravi’ (Kerala Formation Day) celebrations held at the Raj Bhavan , Governor Arlekar said citizens cannot be passive spectators in the country’s development, but should be active participants in the process.

“Every citizen has to be a part of the nation-building .While the government is doing its part , people cannot afford to be silent spectators in the nation’s development,” he said,
Recalling VP Menon’s crucial role, alongside Sardar Vallabhai Patel, in integrating princely states into the Indian Union, Governor Arlekar said the role played by him (VP Menon), who hailed from Kerala, in unifying the country cannot be forgotten.
Stating that the road to Viksit Bharat passes through Viksit Kerala, the governor said the people from the southern state have not lagged behind in any field and they have provided leadership in all fields of life.
