Reflective conversations that cut through the noise
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat completed a remarkable ten years earlier this month, it stands as one of the greatest communication experiments in the world.
The outspoken Bollywood actress, who has been a vocal opponent of nepotism in Bollywood, said that PM Modi has reached where he is today because of “his sheer hard work” and not because of his lineage.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut thinks that a five-year term is a very short time for any government to “pull the nation out of the pit” and believes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the “most deserving candidate” for the top job in 2019.
In an interaction with the media at the screening of ‘Chalo Jeete Hain’ – a short film on Modi – Ranaut was all praise for the Prime Minister. The outspoken Bollywood actress, who has been a vocal opponent of nepotism in Bollywood, said that PM Modi has reached where he is today because of “his sheer hard work” and not because of his lineage.
“It’s not like he has reached this place because of his mother and father. He is the rightful leader of democracy,” Ranaut told reporters.

“We have voted him as our prime minister. This cannot be taken away from him. This is his well-deserved place he has earned after sheer hard work. So, there shouldn’t be any doubt about his credibility as the prime minister,” added the 31-year-old actress.
“Five years are very less to take the nation out of a pit. Our country is in a pit, we need to pull it out,” Ranaut said.
When asked if she is willing to join politics, Ranaut said that like soldiers she, too, is willing to lay down her life if needed, “leave alone joining politics”.
Commenting on the film on the PM, Ranaut said that it portrays “Prime Minister Modi being a sensitive child who went through extreme circumstances”. She added that the film was not about the PM but about need for the society to remain together for its own progress.
MoS Home Affairs and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kiren Rijiju called Ranaut’s praise of the PM an “honest expression”.
“Honest expression by talented Kangana Ranaut who has nothing to gain from politics but as an Indian desires to see our nation prosperous & powerful,” said the Union Minister on Twitter.
