K Kavitha quits BRS day after suspension from party; accuses Harish Rao of destroying family

A day after her suspension from the party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha announced her resignation on Wednesday. She accused her cousin and fromer minister T Harish Rao and former MP J Santosh Rao of planning to destroy the party and family.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kavitha was suspended over “anti-party” activities.

Speaking about her suspension, she said she came to know about the development through media reports. “After being released from Tihar jail, I participated in various programs and worked for BC Reservations and other initiatives against the Congress government while wearing the BRS flag. I don’t understand how these actions constitute anti-party activities,” she said.

She cautioned her father and BRS President KCR about leaders surrounding him, who, she alleged, have colluded with Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to destroy the party.

“I’m requesting my father to examine the party leaders surrounding him. I spoke straightforwardly and requested him to consider my words. Revanth Reddy and Harish Rao planned to destroy our family while travelling together on a flight; Revanth Reddy should answer for this,” she said.

Claiming that the Telangana CM was targeting her family, including her father KCR and brother KTR, Kavitha said  Harish Rao was the Irrigation Minister when the Kaleshwaram project began, yet no FIR was registered against him.

“Revanth Reddy got cases booked against only my family members, KTR, and KCR, but not against Harish Rao. When the Kaleshwaram project began, Harish Rao was the Irrigation Minister, and Revanth Reddy didn’t speak out against him,” she added.

Kavitha was referring to the CBI inquiry initiated by the Telangana government to probe the alleged irregularities in Kaleshwaram project during KCR-led BRS government.

“Harish Rao and Santosh Rao are planning to destroy our family and party. Harish Rao wasn’t a troubleshooter but was a “bubble shooter.” He gave money to work against KCR and KTR in the Assembly elections,” she said.

Kavitha also said that she had previously spoken with her brother and BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) about people in the party plotting against her, and asked him to take action.

“KCR garu and KTR garu are my family. We are bound by blood…This bond should not break over reasons like suspension from the party or losing posts. But some people want our family to disintegrate for their personal and political growth,” she added.
