In a major reshuffle in the police department, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday transferred police chiefs of ten districts across the Union Territory.

In a major reshuffle in the police department, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday appointed Deepak Kumar as DG (Prisons) and transferred police chiefs of ten districts across the Union Territory (UT).

As many as 72 officers of the rank of Director General, Additional DGP (ADGP), senior superintendent of police (SSP) and superintendent of police (SP) have been shifted, according to the order issued by RK Goyal, additional chief secretary, Home.

SJM Geelani, ADGP Armed Police, was appointed Director of Police Housing Corporation while Sunil Kumar was posted as ADGP Railways; Sunil Gupta, DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range was shifted to head the Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range.

Sujit Kumar, DIG Central Kashmir was appointed DIG CID Kashmir, M Suleman Choudhary DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range was sent to police headquarters and Shakti Kumar Pathak DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range was made assistant director of the anti-corruption bureau.

Haseeb Mughal DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range was appointed DIG Traffic Jammu in place of Shridhar Patil who swapped places and Altaf Ahmad Khan DIG CID was given charge of South Kashmir Range.

Sandeep Gupta was sent as SSP Ganderbal, Shobhit Saxena was appointed SSP Kupwara, Anuj Kumar appointed as SSP Ramban in place of Ms Mohita Sharma who was made police chief of Reasi district.

Ms Divya D was appointed SP of Sopore whereas Vinay Kumar SSP, Poonch, was shifted to Samba in place of Benam Tosh who was appointed SSP Crime.

Yougal Kumar SSP Kupwara was sent to the strategic Poonch district while Ms PD Nitya has been appointed SSP Doda district in place of Abdul Qayoom who has been transferred to the neighbouring Kishtwar district and Javid Iqbal has been posted as SSP Pulwama.
