Jharkhand on Monday pressed for tighter coordination with neighbouring states to counter Naxal activity and cross-border crime. At the Eastern Regional Police Coordination Committee (ERPCC) meeting hosted by Chhattisgarh, DGP Anurag Gupta stressed the need for real-time intelligence sharing across state lines.

Representatives from Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh joined the meeting, which focused on issues affecting border districts — including Naxal movement, cyber fraud, narcotics trafficking, illegal SIM networks, and human trafficking.

DGP Gupta urged officers to identify and monitor key check-posts vulnerable to drug smuggling and called for surprise inspections. He proposed structured coordination among police stations in border zones to track suspicious movement, especially in sensitive areas like Saranda near the Odisha border.

Jharkhand Police also flagged the growing risk of cybercrime and suggested joint efforts to block fraudulent SIM card circulation. On the anti-Naxal front, IG (Operations) Michaelraj S. outlined a phased campaign in key districts, with a focus on time-bound targets.

IG Prabhat Kumar (Special Branch) gave updates on ongoing LWE operations, while IG Aseem Vikrant Minz and IG A. Vijayalakshmi shared inputs on cybercrime control and new law enforcement training.

The meeting concluded with a proposal for regular coordination at SP level, faster information flow, and joint operations to address cross-border threats.
