Speaking at the joint press meet in Tokyo, PM Modi underscored the significant investments planned between India and Japan over the next decade. He also outlined the special roadmap shaping the future of bilateral ties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Japan for a two-day visit, Friday said while addressing a joint press meet in Tokyo with his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba that both countries have set a target of 10 trillion yen investment in the South Asian country over the next 10 years.
PM Modi apprised that the semiconductors and rare earth minerals will remain at the top of the agenda of the cooperation between the two nations in the high technology sector.

While addressing a press briefing after the signing of agreements, Modi said, “Today, we have laid a strong foundation for a new and golden chapter in our Special Strategic and Global Partnership. We have created a roadmap for the next decade.”

Meanwhile, PM Ishiba lauded India and said that it is bringing transformation to the whole world.
Japanese PM Ishiba said, “Japan can also boast of advanced technology, leading the world’s growth. When we think about Japan and India’s relations going forward, we need to take advantage of each other’s strengths to gain solutions to our challenges and to help each other.”
Ishiba added that Japan and India share the fundamental values of the Indo-Pacific region, they together need to maintain free and open international order-based rule of law. He further stated that as the world sees increasing opaqueness in the international circumstances, Japan and India need to bring in their strengths together for peace and stability of the region.
PM Narendra Modi, on his part, added that their discussions today were productive as well as purposeful. He stated that both the countries agreed that as the two largest economies of the world and living democracies, the partnership is essential not just for the two countries but also for global peace and security.
He stated, “Strong democracies are natural partners in shaping a better world. Today, we have laid the foundation of a new and golden chapter in our special strategic and global partnership. We have charted a roadmap for the next decade. In the center of our vision lie investment, innovation, economic security, environment, techology, health, mobility, people-to-people exchanges.”
PM Modi further stated, “We believe that Japanese technology and Indian talent are a winning combination. Where we are working on high-speed rail, under next-generation mobility partnership we will also make rapid progress in sectors like ports, aviation and ship-building. For cooperation in Chandrayaan 5 Mission, we welcome the agreement between ISRO and JAXA. Our active cooperation will cross the boundaries of the earth and become a symbol of humanity’s progress in space.”
“At the centre of our vision are investment, innovation, economic security, environment, technology, health, mobility, people-to-people exchanges, and state-prefecture partnership. We have set a target of 10 trillion yen investment from Japan to India over the next 10 years,” he added.
PM Modi talked about the formation of a roadmap with respect to the bilateral relationship of the two countries for the next decade.
He further said, “We are also launching the Sustainable Fuels Initiative and Battery Supply Chain Partnership. We are launching the Economic Security Cooperation Initiative. Under this, we will move forward with a comprehensive approach in critical and strategic sectors.”
Cooperation in the high technology sector is a priority for both the countries, he stated. In this context, the Digital Partnership 2.0 and AI cooperation initiative is being undertaken, he further said.
Earlier today, PM Modi also met with former Japanese prime ministers Yoshihide Suga and Fumio Kishida during his visit to Tokyo. The meetings focused on deepeni India-Japan cooperation across various sectors.
