LG Sinha reviews restoration work on Jammu-Srinagar highway
The highway has been shut since 26 August; however, it was briefly reopened in between for a few hours through some alternate route.
Hundreds of tourists and passengers were stranded due to the landslides. Large number of loaded trucks heading towards Srinagar were also stranded.

After remaining blocked with landslides for four days, the 300 kms Jammu–Srinagar highway was thrown open for vehicular traffic on Friday evening. Traffic Police said that all stranded vehicles have been allowed to move towards their destination.
More than 30 landslides triggered due to incessant rains had blocked the highway since Tuesday. The massive landslide at Samroli (Dewal bridge) took lot of time to remove and the highway was opened this evening.
