Bad weather forces Rahul to cancel Almora rally, return to Delhi
Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's Almora rally was cancelled on Thursday owing to bad weather conditions in the Kumaon region.
Janshakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying the latter’s job is to ride a motorcycle and spread pollution.
Talking to ANI, he said the Gandhi scion will spend his entire life fishing.
“Rahul Gandhi’s job is to ride a motorcycle and spread pollution. He will spend his entire life fishing. The country will be plunged into darkness… ‘Jalebi chhan’na, machli pakadna’ (making jalebis, catching fish). He should have been a chef. Why did he become a politician?…” Yadav said. He further said, (Tejashwi Yadav) went to Mahua yesterday, and the local MLA lathi-charged the people there. They talk about social justice, but in Mahua, they are beating the poor…’
Yadav, the son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, said his own programme will be held in Raghopur, “not just one, my helicopter will land at two places in Raghopur.”

Tej Pratap Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son and now chief of his own outfit, has chosen his home turf to assert political relevance. He will take on sitting RJD MLA Mukesh Kumar Raushan and LJP (Ram Vilas) nominee Sanjay Kumar. Mahua is poised to be one of the most closely watched contests of the 2025 Bihar elections.
In its bid to boost its presence in Bihar, the Congress on Sunday declared a formidable list of 40 star campaigners for the second phase of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections slated for November 11. The roster showcases an amalgamation of top national icons and influential state leaders, indicating the party’s rigorous push to energise voters across key constituencies.
Heading the lineup is Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, closely followed by stalwarts Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who are set to headline major rallies. Veteran leaders, including Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Digvijaya Singh, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, and Sachin Pilot, will head outreach efforts in diverse regions.
Phase one voting is scheduled for November 6 and phase two on November 11, followed by counting on November 14.
