A police officer of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been killed in a terrorist attack near Srinagar.

According to reports, terrorists attacked a security post guarding a power grid station at Wagoora area of Nowgam in the outskirts of Srinagar late last night.

Terrorists opened fire upon the CISF post at Wagoora past mid-night resulting in grievous injuries to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajendra Prasad who was immediately taken to nearby hospital by his colleagues where doctors reportedly declared him brought dead.

“Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajendra Prasad sustained serious bullet injuries on the intervening night of Friday-Saturday during a standoff fire by terrorists at the grid Station Wagoora in Nowgam area,” a police spokesperson said.

Terrorists also fired at the office of the Additional Superintendent of Police in Shopian but fled when policemen retaliated.
