CBI arrests head constable for accepting bribe
After negotiations, the accused agreed to accept Rs 20,000, the Central probe agency said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday jointly quizzed Karti Chidambaram and co accused Indrani Mukerjea in the INX Media money-laundering case.
The grilling began at around 12 noon inside Mumbai’s Byculla Jail where Indrani– accused of murder — is lodged along with her husband Peter.
According to reports, Karti will be quizzed along with Peter separately.

Indrani and Peter, former heads of INX Media are accused of bribing Karti and his father P Chidambaram, who was then Finance Minister in 2008, to get Foreign Investment Promotional Board (FIPB) clearance for their firm.
Indrani had told a magistrate that Karti had met her in a Delhi hotel and demanded $1 million in bribe.
The prosecution had earlier told a special Delhi court that Karti needed to be confronted with the Mukerjeas as well as other and suspects in the case.
In her statement to a magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC, Indrani Mukherjea said she along with her husband had travelled to a hotel in Delhi where they had met Karti.
A special court had on March 1 given the CBI custody of Karti for questioning till March 6, saying the matter is at an initial and very crucial stage that requires further investigation.
CBI Judge Sunil Rana gave the order after three hours of heated arguments between Karti’s lawyer and the CBI counsel, who pleaded for 14 days custody, saying he needed to be questioned thoroughly in “a serious finance corruption case” which is not a political witch hunt or vendetta.
