Internal fighting within the Punjab Congress hit a new low on Saturday with senior leader and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa launching an open attack on state party president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa. Randhawa blamed the current state management for ignoring grassroots workers and damaging the party’s core setup before the upcoming elections.
The public fallout happened during a television interview where Randhawa directly criticised the top state leadership. While he mentioned looking at Warring as a younger brother and accepting his position as the state chief, the MP claimed he faced public humiliation from Warring multiple times.

Randhawa revealed he had formally congratulated Warring when he took charge of the state unit just to keep up professional courtesy, but the state chief never acknowledged the gesture. Personal egos are being prioritised over the political survival of the party in the state, the senior lawmaker noted.
Switching focus to Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, the Gurdaspur MP raised serious doubts about his floor management and leadership style within the state assembly. Randhawa stated that senior leaders feel completely isolated due to a lack of collective consultation, which is actively weakening the party’s position as an effective opposition force.
Party insiders indicate that Randhawa’s comments point to a much larger, ongoing power struggle between the veteran guard and the current leadership. This public fight is expected to cause major trouble for the high command’s efforts to keep the state unit united against political opponents.
So far, neither Punjab Congress chief Raja Warring nor Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa has come forward with an official statement or reply regarding the allegations made by Randhawa.
