Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the local MP, the Varanasi Municipal Corporation is organising a grand “Kashi Sansad Bal Kavi Sammelan-2025.”

Kashi, world-renowned for its glorious history, literature, and culture, is now providing a grand platform for young writers. The primary objective of this competition is to encourage the poetic talent of schoolchildren.

Recently, on November 8, PM Modi had listened to a young schoolboy recite a heartfelt poem before flagging off the new Varanasi-Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express at Varanasi railway station. Later, the PM mentioned it in his speech and appreciated the boy.

Winners of the Bal Kavi Sammelan will receive attractive cash prizes. The competition will be held in two age groups:Group 1: Children in classes 6 to 8; Group 2: Children in classes 9 to 12.

The competition will be held in three phases: November 26 to 28, at the school level; December 1 to 3, at the block and zonal levels; and the district-level grand finale on December 5 and 6.

The first prize in the grand finale will be Rs 50,000, the second prize Rs 30,000, and the third prize Rs 20,000 in cash. All winners will also receive certificates.

The special themes of the competition are Avinashi Kashi, Sanvarti Kashi, Patriotism, Mother Ganga, and Mahadev.

Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari appealed to all schools, parents, and literature lovers to register as many children as possible to make this unique programme, organised for the first time by the Municipal Corporation, a success.

Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal said that this event will enhance children’s talents and pave new paths for them in the future. He stated that the Municipal Corporation and the jury reserve the right to amend or change any of the competition rules.

Kashi is renowned worldwide for its temples, ghats, handicrafts, festivals, and cultural splendor. Through this competition, an effort is being made to promote this cultural consciousness of Kashi among the children.
