President Droupadi Murmu, on Tuesday, said that Indian democracy was vibrant and the largest in the world.

Speaking after inaugurating the Constitution Park at Raj Bhawan here the President said, “Our Constitution is the foundation of this great democracy.”

Paying rich tributes to the architects of the Constitution of India on behalf of the grateful nation, the President said by participating in the function, she got an opportunity to pay her respects to the markers of the Constitution.

President Murmu appreciated the artists, who performed at the inaugural ceremony, for describing the historical journey of three years of Constitution making displayed in the Park in an artistic manner. She said that a major chapter of India’s modern history was presented at the Constitution Park through elegant paintings, sculptures and other art forms.

The President further said that the framers of the Indian constitution created a comprehensive statute book with sensitivity towards each section of the society and awareness towards each level of democracy and each aspect of administration.

The visionary constitution makers had clarity of thought about rights of future generations to create systems according to their needs, she elaborated.

“That is why the provisions of the Constitutional amendment were also included in the Constitution itself. A total of 105 amendments have been made so far. Thus, our Constitution is a living document which is fully capable of adopting and incorporating the changing hopes and aspirations of the people over time,” she underlined.

On the occasion, Murmu virtually inaugurated the Transmission System for Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan and laid the foundation stone for the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project of SJVN Limited.

Later, President Murmu met the representatives of Saharia and Kathodi tribal communities at Raj Bhavan.  During her interaction with them, she inquired about their everyday problems. She called on the people of the tribal community not to marry children at an early age and to pay more attention to the education of girls and make them self-reliant.

The President called upon the people of Saharia and Kathodi tribes to educate their children more and make them self-reliant. She said there was a need to teach more and more to the daughters as this will give them opportunities to move forward in life.

Hailing the contribution of the tribal community to the conservation of water, forests and land, she called upon them to work hard and inspire the young generation to beautify life by having attachment to labour.
