India on Friday expressed deep shock at the loss of lives in northern Gaza during delivery of humanitarian assistance.

”Such loss of civilian lives and the larger humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to be a cause for extreme concern,” the Ministry of External Affairs said.

”We reiterate our call for safe and timely delivery of humanitarian aid and assistance,” it said.

In the gruesome incident, more than 100 Palestinians were killed in firing as they waited for an aid delivery on Thursday. Gaza health authorities claimed Israeli forces were responsible for the incident, but Israel blamed the deaths on crowds that surrounded aid trucks, saying victims had been trampled or run over.
