As per the parliamentary tradition, after each session, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha organises a tea party for all members of parliament and ministers on the same day. But on Thursday evening, not a single member of the Opposition alliance turned up at the tea party hosted by Om Birla.

During the tea party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the session productive as several significant Bills were passed. He praised the government, stating that the passage of the online games Bill will have a long-term impact, particularly on the public. Those are the topics that warrant further discussion.

Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla referred to the Opposition’s actions as a ‘diminution of the dignity of the Parliament’ and reiterated his call for cooperation from all parties.

Political circles suggest that the Opposition boycott of the tea party reflects the increasing pressure within Parliament and the deepening disagreements between the government and the opposition. This action of the opposition challenges the tradition of cooperation in Parliament and may escalate political tensions in the future.
