IED defused on strategic highway in Kashmir

Vehicular traffic was suspended on the strategic Srinagar-Baramulla highway on Saturday after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by terrorists was detected on the roadside near Sopore. The IED was defused by the Army and police.

The police informed that a box containing an IED was found at Bulgam Hygam near in Sopore area of the north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The Police and Army’s 52 RR rushed to the spot and summoned the Bomb Disposal Squad. The object turned out to be an IED which was defused with the help of the squad. Traffic through the area remained suspended during the operation.

Meanwhile, a terrorist of proscribed Hizbul Mujahideen was killed in an overnight encounter in the Kashmir Valley.
