IAF to conduct trial of landing facility on South Kashmir’s highway
Elaborate security and safety arrangements have been made by the authorities who have deployed mobile radars, CCTVs and other sophisticated equipment for the smooth trial.
In a tragic accident, seven armed forces personnel were charred to death after a kerosene jerry can onboard the Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper that they were travelling in exploded mid-air in Tawang region of Arunachal Pradesh, officials said on Friday.
The seven deceased personnel– five of the IAF and two Army men—were onboard the Mi-17 V5 chopper of the IAF to deliver supplies including jerry cans of kerosene to forward areas in Tawang near the Indo-China border.
As the personnel were offloading the supplies from 17,000 feet, the net holding the kerosene cans got entangled in the chopper’s rear rotor resulting in a fire and sending the aircraft crashing down, killing all onboard.
