Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Alishah Geelani on Wednesday expressed dismay over stone-throwing incident at a school bus in Shopian by some “unscrupulous elements”.
In a statement in the evening, Geelani said: “Our strength lies in discipline and we should keep strict vigil over those involved in these incidents”.
Geelani’s statement came following criticism of separatists for keeping mum on the attack on the school bus in Shopian and killing of three innocent youths by terrorists in Baramula a day before.
Earlier on Wednesday, two students were injured as a school bus was attacked in Zavoora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district by stone-pelters.
According to media reports, the bus that came under attack belonged to Rainbow International School.
The police have taken cognisance of the incident and an investigation is being conducted.
Among the two injured students, a 2nd standard child suffered head injury. Stones, pelted by the attackers, smashed windowpanes of the bus and hit the students who were in a state of trauma.
Police identified the student who suffered head injury as Rehan Gorsai who was rushed to the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar for specialised treatment.
