Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister, during his one-day visit to the Doon Assembly Constituency in Solan district, criticised the previous BJP government for ignoring corruption and alleged that it allotted 5,000 bighas of land worth hundreds of crores to major industrial houses for just Rs 1.12 crore under the guise of customised packages. He said stamp duty was waived and provisions were made to supply electricity at Rs 3 per unit for five years, and even free water.
Sukhu asserted that as Chief Minister, he would not allow the state’s assets to be plundered.
He said the present government returned Rs 30 crore received from the Centre for the bulk drug park to ensure that Himachal’s interests were protected and decided to develop it independently.
He added that the BJP’s social media cell was targeting him because of his strong stand against corruption and his efforts to safeguard the rights of widows, orphans, women, labourers and farmers.
The previous BJP government left behind a debt of Rs 75,000 crore and liabilities of Rs 10,000 crore.
Highlighting reforms, he said Himachal improved its education ranking from 21st to 5th and allocated Rs 3,000 crore to strengthen the health sector. He said the government was moving towards self-reliance, planning large-scale recruitments and extending continuous support to disaster-hit families.
He also distributed relief and PMAY-G instalments to beneficiaries in the constituency.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 12 major development projects valued at Rs 383 crore.
He inaugurated the Baddi–Sai–Ramshehar road, constructed for Rs 86 crore, tube wells worth Rs 15.78 crore in the Doon area, Rs 10.64 crore Civil Hospital at Baddi, and the newly built Community Health Centre building at Barotiwala constructed for Rs 3.15 crore.
