As the ongoing conflict in West Asia continues to impact energy flows, the Centre on Tuesday said that the supply of LPG in India has been affected due to the prevailing geopolitical situation. It added that, on average, more than 50 lakh domestic LPG cylinders have been delivered per day by PSU Oil Marketing Companies since March 1.

The Union Government stated that it is making all efforts to ensure the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG.

“Avoid panic purchasing of petrol and diesel, and refrain from excessive LPG bookings. Beware of rumours and rely on official sources for accurate information. For LPG, citizens are requested to use digital modes for bookings and avoid visiting LPG distributors,” the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said on Tuesday.

On domestic LPG supply, the Ministry further stated that there have been no reported dry-outs at LPG distributorships and online LPG cylinder bookings increased to 92 per cent on an industry-wide basis on Monday.

To prevent diversion at the distributor level, Delivery Authentication Code (DAC)-based deliveries have increased from 53 per cent in February 2026 to 83 per cent on Monday, it said.

The Ministry further stated that, in the current situation, all citizens are requested to make efforts to conserve energy in their daily usage.

“Citizens are encouraged to use alternate fuels such as PNG and induction/electric cooktops,” it added.

The Ministry noted that measures have been put in place to ensure the uninterrupted availability of petroleum products and LPG across the country, in view of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

“All refineries are operating at high capacity, with adequate crude inventories in place. The country is also maintaining sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel. Domestic LPG production from refineries has been increased to support consumption,” it said.

The Ministry further informed that raids are being carried out across several states and Union Territories to check hoarding and black marketing of LPG.

“More than 3,000 raids have been conducted, and over 500 cylinders were seized yesterday,” it said.
