The mortal remains of Jharkhand Minister for School Education, Literacy and Registration Ramdas Soren were kept at the Assembly premises here on Saturday for people to pay their last respects.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato, ministers, legislators, former MPs, ex-MLAs and officials of the Assembly Secretariat laid floral wreaths and paid homage to the departed leader. The Governor described Soren’s demise as “an irreparable loss” for the state and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

Leaders across the political spectrum expressed grief. Jamshedpur (West) MLA Saryu Rai recalled Soren as a minister who patiently heard everyone and was simple in nature. Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh paid floral tributes at the Assembly and said the state has lost a soft-spoken leader dedicated to education and tribal rights. He added that the loss comes close on the heels of the death of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, deepening the state’s grief.
Senior Congress leaders including Rajesh Kachhap, Radhakrishna Kishore, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Suresh Baitha, Naman Vixal, Bandhu Tirkey, Subodh Kant Sahay, Banna Gupta, Satish Paul Mujhni, Kedar Paswan, Shashi Bhushan Rai and Alok Dubey also offered condolences.
Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren died on Friday at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, where he was under treatment since August 2.
