Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday accused the BJP of being “guilt conscious” and rushing to defend the Election Commission of India (ECI) after Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi intensified his campaign against alleged “vote theft” (vote chori).
The senior Congress leader Gehlot said, on his X handle Friday night, that Gandhi has been effectively making his appeal to people for joining him in the campaign against the ‘vote theft’. The appeal evoked good response which made the ruling BJP uneasy.

The ex-CM wrote, ” Sh. Rahul Gandhi yesterday(Thursday) made a new revelation on Vote Chori, after which the BJP is attacking him all around. Shri Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission, but the guilt conscious BJP rushed to defend the Commission”.
“Sh. Rahul Gandhi is clearly appealing to Gen-Z youth as well as all sections of society to support him through democratic means, which is completely justified.
However, the BJP, in an attempt to divert attention from the issue, is trying to twist and distort his statements, a tactic which people fully understand. By doing so, the BJP is only exposing itself before the public”, Gehlot stated in the post.
He further said that Rahul Gandhi’s message of protecting democracy and exposing BJP’s vote rigging has now reached villages across the country . The BJP can no longer divert public attention from this.
In the coming days, Rahul Gandhi’s new revelations will further uncover and expose the collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission before the people, he added.
