Excise Minister Agarwal said that there is no place in the Yogi government for those who play with the interests of the common people. Irregularities in liquor sales, overcharging, or corruption at any level are unacceptable.
He said that in the future too, immediate and strict action will be taken on such complaints to ensure a transparent and disciplined system in the state.
In view of the continuous complaints received regarding overcharging at liquor shops in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, a detailed investigation and inspection was conducted by the then Deputy Excise Commissioner, Meerut Division, Rakesh Kumar Singh.
During the inspection, overcharging was confirmed at 9 shops on December 23, 2024, and at 16 shops on January 20, 2025. After serious administrative negligence was found in the investigation report, the Excise Minister took this swift action.
