There are some deaths that leave us heartbroken. There are others that leave us bewildered. The recent death of my nephew, filmmaker Anik Dutta, left me feeling both.

In a tragic incident, a man, his mother, and his two kids committed suicide by consuming poison at their home in a village in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to the police, the four family members consumed sulphas tablets in their home in the Tehar village sometime between 2 AM and 3 AM.

As per Khurai police station in-charge Yogendra Dangi, Manohar Lodhi (45), Phoolrani Lodhi (70), Shivani (18), and Ankit (16) consumed poison.

Phoolrani and Ankit died at home, while Shivani died during treatment at the Khurai Civil hospital. Manohar died inside an ambulance while being transferred to a better medical facility in Sagar.
The police official said that Manohar’s wife had gone to her maternal house a few days ago. The exact cause of the suicide by the family members was not yet known and the police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
