In a tragic incident, four members of a family were brutally murdered in broad daylight in the Etah district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The victims include an elderly couple, their daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. The crime took place in the Kotwali Nagar area’s Nagla Premi locality.

The deceased have been identified as Ganga Singh (75), his wife Shyama Devi (70), their daughter-in-law Ratna Devi (45), wife of Kamal Singh, and granddaughter Jyoti (20). Ganga Singh’s body was found on a cot on the ground floor of the two-storey house, while the three women were found dead in a room on the first floor.

According to police, when they reached the spot, Shyama Devi was still breathing and showed signs of movement. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead by doctors. All victims had severe head injuries. A bloodstained interlocking brick was found in the room, leading police to suspect that the victims’ heads were crushed with the brick, possibly along with the use of a sharp-edged weapon.

Kamal Singh, the son of Ganga Singh, a medical store owner, said when he had come home around 1 pm for lunch, everything was normal. He returned to his shop afterward. At around 2 pm, his five-year-old son, Devansh, came back from school and discovered the bodies. The ceiling fan was running, which raised suspicion, and when there was no response from inside the house, the child entered the room and saw the horrific scene.

There were no signs of robbery, leading the police to suspect the involvement of someone known to the family who may have conducted prior surveillance. Additional Superintendent of Police Shwetabh Pandey reached the spot along with a heavy police force. The field unit and dog squad were also deployed, and police are examining CCTV footage from the neighborhood to identify the attackers. The motive behind the killings is still unclear.
