Grenade explodes accidental during police training
A training session on the use of smoke grenades for crowd control was underway at the district police lines when a sudden grenade explosion injured two police personnel.
While two persons died on the spot, two others were received dead at the nearby government-run hospital.
At least four persons were killed and nine others seriously injured on Sunday when a pick-up van they were travelling in collided with a coal-laden truck head-on near Janiera junction on the National Highway No.-49 under the Lakhanpur police station jurisdiction of Odisha’s Jharsuguda district.
While two persons died on the spot, two others were received dead at the nearby government-run hospital. All the injured persons are stated to be critical, police said.
The road accident occurred at around 10 am, police said attributing reckless driving as the principal cause of the mishap.
