Six people were injured, four of them seriously, when seven vehicles of the convoy of Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav collided among themselves in the adjoining Hardoi district on Friday.

However, Akhilesh Yadav escaped unhurt in the incident, police said.

The police said the accident occurred under the Mallawan police station area when the first vehicle of the SP president’s fleet applied brakes at a speed breaker at Farhatnagar railway crossing on Katra Bilhaur Highway. Due to this, seven vehicles, including two Fortuners running closely collided with each other.

But the vehicle of Akhilesh Yadav was not involved in the collision. The four serious injured were admitted to the Community health centre ( CHC) in Hardoi.

Yadav was returning to Lucknow after attending a wedding ceremony in Baithapur village of Harpalpur police station area in Hardoi.
