A wonderful confluence of cultures of North and South India was witnessed on the holy land of Ayodhya on Wednesday when Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath grandly unveiled the statues of three great South Indian musical saints, Tyagaraja Swamigal, Purandara Dasa, and Arunachala Kavi, at Brihaspati Kund.
The atmosphere of Brihaspati Kund located in Tedhi Bazaar was filled with the sacred spirit of devotion and music when the Union minister and the chief minister began the unveiling ceremony with prayers as per South Indian tradition. Sitharaman’s parents were also present on the occasion, making the moment even more emotional.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Union finance minister in traditional Ayodhya style presenting her with a bouquet of flowers. He said that Brihaspati Kund is not just a historical site, but a symbol of cultural harmony, where the faith of North India and the devotion of South India meet.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Ayodhya is not only a center of faith but also a symbol of India’s cultural soul. Paying tribute to the contributions of the three saints, she said Tyagaraja Swamigal, Purandara Dasa, and Arunachala Kavi established Indian classical music and the devotional tradition on the world stage. Their poetry and works bound society together in a thread of love, devotion, and unity.
Sitharaman expressed her delight at the grandeur and serenity of Brihaspati Kund. She said that the cultural ties between Ayodhya and Karnataka are centuries old. Today, through the unveiling of the statues of these saints, India’s north-south traditions are united.
On this occasion, CM Yogi Adityanath said Ayodhya, the city of Shri Ram, is now becoming a hub not only for spiritual but also for cultural renaissance. He said that Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit is a powerful symbol of India’s cultural unity and harmony.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, and Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh took a break and sat on the beautiful stone benches installed in the Brihaspati Kund complex. Gazing at the tranquil lake, pleasant atmosphere, and well-maintained campus, the three public representatives momentarily reveled in the beauty and cultural grandeur of Ayodhya.
Praising the artistic design of the benches and the beautification of the campus, the chief minister said that Brihaspati Kund has now become an ideal confluence of devotion and beauty.
