At a joint rally of the Mahagathbandhan in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday launched sharp attacks on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP-led NDA, accusing them of failing Bihar on jobs, education, and development.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi posed a question to the people of Bihar: “Tell me what he has done for education, health, and employment in Bihar in the last 20 years. Do you want a state where you get nothing? We don’t want such a Bihar. We want a Bihar where there is health, education, and employment.”

Exhorting people to vote for the Mahagathbandhan, Gandhi said the Grand Alliance guarantees that it will form a government representing every class, caste, and religion in Bihar. “We will not leave anyone behind,” he added.

Slamming the Nitish Kumar government, Gandhi said that Biharis have no future in Bihar, calling it “the harsh truth.”

He added that Nitish Kumar has been running the government for 20 years and calls himself extremely backward, but has failed to deliver on education, health, and employment.

“Nitish Kumar’s face is just being used, while the BJP holds the real remote control,” Gandhi alleged, claiming the government is run by a handful of people who suppress the voices of the most backward communities.

He added that despite his demand in Parliament for a caste census, the Prime Minister remained silent. “The BJP does not commit to social justice; they are against it,” he said.

Gandhi further said, “Look at the back of your phone, it says Made in China. Narendra Modi destroyed small businesses through demonetisation and GST. Wherever you look, it’s Made in China. We say it should be Made in Bihar, mobiles, shirts, pants, all should be made in Bihar, so that our youth get employment. We want such a Bihar.”

Mahagathbandhan’s CM face and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said his goal is to stop migration from Bihar and build a crime-free, corruption-free, and prosperous state.
He said that despite 20 years of Nitish Kumar’s rule and 11 years of Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre, Bihar remains India’s poorest state, struggling with unemployment, inflation, and large-scale migration.
Yadav added that if the Grand Alliance comes to power, his government would, within 20 days, enact a law guaranteeing at least one government job per family.
